Look and Feel
Mi max sports a massive 6.44 inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection which can make an iPhone look smaller.
The Sunlight display technology helps in better reading of text outdoors.
The glass on the screen is rounded and there are chamfered edges along the metal body of Mi Max.
The volume and power buttons are housed on the right while the left edge sports a dual hybrid SIM tray. The micro USB port and mono speaker are placed at the bottom while the infra red emitter and headphones socket are at the top.
The rear panel sports the primary camera, dual LED flash and fingerprint sensor.
With an enormous build, mi Max is not easy to use single handed and daily usage might get you accustomed to it.

Mi Max include ‘One Handed mode’ options in the Settings menu to shrink the contents of display to 4.5 or 4 or 3.5 inches to the bottom corners of the display. This can be done by simply swiping left or right on the capacitive button.
“Shortcut Menu” or “Quick Ball” option in Mi Max lets you assign five shortcuts to any app or function to multi task easily. This floating screen ball called the “Quick Ball” can be accessed from any app or home screen.
There are pre-installed apps like Security to check data usage and clean junk; Themes to customize the look of your mobile; Mi remote to act as the remote control for your TV with the infra red emitter; and third party apps like Facebook, WPS Office, SwiftKey, Flipkart and Fleksy.
The Snapdragon 650 SoC offers plenty of grunt for most apps and games. The mobile scored a good 32fps in GFXbench and 18,044 points in 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited as an indication of its gaming performance.
Mi Max has its own Audio Player with audio enhancements and equalizer presets. The mono speaker is loud yet doesn’t give a good experience.
The volume of the earphone can be quite louder but provides better clarity.
The 16 MP rear camera comes with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) feature that works well in bright lights. But it may over sharpen the image which produces slightly jagged edges. It also supports 4K video recording.
The 5MP front camera works fine for selfies under bright lights and can record 720p videos.
The camera app offers different shooting modes, including a Manual mode which lets you adjust shutter speed, ISO, white balance and focus.
The video quality is good even under low lights. Video recording include features like slow-motion and time lapse video modes.
Mi Max is backed by a huge battery of 4850 mAh which can last for two days of regular use. In the video loopback test, it can stay alive for 21 hours and 11 minutes.
