Later, it was said to be upgradeable to Android Lollipop. Earlier this month, Honor has claimed that Honor 4C can be upgraded to Androids’s recent Marshmallow. After Honor 7, Honor 4C becomes the second mobile of Honor to get the Marshmallow update. Honor 5X and Honor Holy 2 Plus which were launched along with 4C are still running on Android Lollipop. The users are not able to get Over The Air (OTA) update of Marshmallow in their 4C currently and has to be updated manually by downloading Marshmallow’s source file from the company’s website.
Steps to update Honor 4C to Android Marshmallow
To update the mobile, it is advisable to take a back up of the mobile contents.
Step 1: Download the source file for Android Marshmallow from the company’s website. Ensure that the downloaded file is placed in the ‘Downloads’ folder of the device storage or the microSD card.
Step 2: Open ‘Settings’ and click the ‘Updater’ tab. Open ‘Menu’ in the bottom of the screen.
Step 3: It opens a popup showing three options namely, Local Update, Update Settings and System Information.
Step 4: Open ‘Local update’ and you can find the downloaded file. If the file is in a wrong folder, you get a warning that ‘No Update package found’.
Step 5: Tap on the downloaded file to see two options, ‘Backup’ and ‘Install’. Choose Install if you have already taken a backup.
Step 6: After restarting a few times, your Honor 4C will be successfully updated with Android Marshmallow based EMUI 4.0.
