Snapdeal has shipped more than 5 million orders during the ongoing five day ‘Diwali Sale’ which started from 13th October, tweeted Anand Chandrasekaran, chief product officer at Snapdeal.
Snapdeal is running the mega sale till 17th October as ‘The Great Indian Festive Sale’ of its rival Amazon India and Flipkart’s highly anticipated ‘Big Billion Days’.
“Some numbers from #SnapdealDiwaliSale – 5 million+ orders shipped so far! 98.9% shipped within 24 hours of order placement” tweeted Chandrasekaran.
Chandrasekaran took to micro blogging site Twitter to announce some of the major numbers that the company achieved during the ongoing Diwali sale. He tweeted, “there was a 350% increase in new users compared to last year. 70,000+ units of large products (sofas, beds, furniture) shipped in 3 days.”
He another tweet said that the online marketplace has seen over 5 million app downloads on the very first day of the festive season.
Chandrasekaran shared that smartphones worth over Rs 500 crore were sold alone Snapdeal’s Electronic sale conducted on 12th October.
Snapdeal, which conducted a sale of electronic goods earlier announced that the sale had exceeded its expectation with an overwhelming response from customers across the country. The company recorded an increase of 17 times in revenue and was set to cross $100 million (about Rs 651 crore) in sales by the end of the day, it said.
